Well, I warned you when I started this newsletter that it might not come out on schedule. Events in my life during the past year had me a little off my feed but it’s all leveling out. I had intended to put out a “back to school” issue but it seems everybody got back successfully without it.
In other news, contrary to what I may have told you, there will be lessons the last week of October. (see calendar below).
That’s all for now.
With the Holidays coming up, students might have a bit of free time after their daily practice to take in a rock movie. A few of my favorites are listed below. I will put a more complete list on the website but these should get you started. Watching film is an easy way to see performances by great players close up with no parking hassles.
Most of these titles are available at the GuitarSlinger eStore.

Gift ideas: Last year I sent around a list of gift ideas for the hard working music student. It’s on the website under Gift Ideas
Whooda Thunkit! The most surprising thing that ever happens is when I ask a student what they listen to and they reply “I don’t listen to music much.”. I have to stop myself from asking “What are you doing here?”
As the old saying goes; “You are what you eat.”. Cultural enrichment begins at home so please, please make sure your student is exposed to as wide a variety of radio, recordings, film and live performances as possible. It’s never too soon to start. Without that input, how can they understand what they’re supposed to do with an instrument?
A couple of things.
Website: And speaking of that website, I have a new section devoted to my songwriting. If anyone is interested in the music I make, check it out.
FretWire: While we’re on-line, I want to mention my student email list, FretWire. It’s a place to discuss anything having to do with playing music and it’s for my students only. All I need is your student's email and I’ll get them signed up.
