The life of a working musician is multifaceted. There are many avenues to follow and often two or three are pursued simultaneously. Between performing, teaching, writing and promoting all of the above, it's not too hard to keep busy.
This presentation is a work in progress. A little sketchy right now. Too many dates, no photos. Photos are coming. Maybe someday I'll turn it into a narrative. For now, just the facts.
For over 50 years I have performed with dozens of Rock, Blues, Jazz and Folk groups performing mostly on the West Coast. Highlights include:
2012-13 | Red Hot Blues Sisters | - R&B/blues band, performed at Northwest clubs and festivals. I played electric bass. |
2000-04 | The Trouble Boys | - blues band, performed at Northwest clubs and festivals. CD "Blues All Over" released 2003. |
1994-96 | Usable Tool | - Original and cover band. Played partys and fairs. |
1994 | The Mustangs | - Original rock band. I played bass. |
1993 | Paz | - Latin/Jazz trio. Played festivals, fairs. I played bass. |
1991-92 | Sam Andrew Band | - classic rock band led by a member of Big Brother and The Holding Company. |
1989-91 | Too Much Fun | - Rock cover band. |
1988-89 | The Grape (formerly Moby Grape) | - played Moby Grape classics and some classic rock and blues. |
1988 | The Broughams | - rock 'n roll quartet. I played bass. |
1987 | Brian Leader Band | - Jazz trio. I played bass. |
1983 | JW Reed | - variety duo, played in small clubs. |
1978-80 | Back to Back | - commercial quintet, performed nightly in Hotels and lounges throughout the Western U.S. |
1977-78 | Daily Planet | - commercial quintet, performed nightly in Hotels and lounges in WA, OR and AK. |
1977 | Quintet Staburadze | - accompanist for a Latvian Folk Group on tour throughout the Midwest. |
1974-75 | Metropolis | - hard rock cover band in Seattle. |
1972-74 | Shadowfax | - a rock band, played in taverns mostly in Western Washington. |
1966-67 | The Everpresent Now | - Psychedelic rock band in Seattle. |
1965 | Early Times Singers | - folk/bluegrass group that performed nightly at the El Encanto in Avalon, CA all summer. |
1963-65 | The Esquires | - played surf music throughout Southern California. |

Mostly individual private instruction. Student's ages from 6 to adult. Skill levels from beginner to advanced. Additionally I have done rehearsal coaching of bands formed by students. Styles taught include: Rock (all sub-genres), Blues, Folk, Jazz, Country and Bluegrass. Other subjects include Theory, composition and recording technology
