Fast Lane Hero, my new solo album, was released (finally!) December 10, 2019.
All of these songs were written in 2017 during one of the songwriting challenges in which I participate. In February Album Writing Month (FAWM) the goal is to write 14 songs in 28 days. In 50/90 the goal is to write 50 songs in 90 days. In the weekly Song Skirmish the goal is to write one song a week.
A skirmish is where someone publishes a theme, usually one word or a short phrase, and participants have roughly an hour to write a song on that theme and optionally record a rough demo. Better recordings can be done later. In the second hour we comment on each other's work. It sounds tough but it's a lot of fun.
All of these were written, during a skirmish except "Doggone Lonely Blues".That lyric was written by Larry W. Jones aka the Kingwood Kowboy. I put his lyric to music. Other songs of his, including a few more I've done, are here

One of my favorites. I would have named the album Road Trip but that's been done too many times already. It would make sense since you never know what's around the next curve.
Skirmish theme was "life in the fast lane". It was tricky to not step on The Eagles.
We've all been to this place.
Another skirmish song. Straight from the theme given; "Turn the Page". We need to do that sometimes.
It can be brutal out there! Slightly tweaked blues progression.
Product of my very first skirmish. The theme had to do with blood sweat which comes from hippos. The song has nothing to do with that except for the words "blood" and "sweat".
Back to younger days and simpler times. Volume up!
Skirmish theme was a card. I remembered playing poker with one eyed jacks wild. I hope he's okay out there.
Skirmish theme ws a painting, novel, movie or poem. Had just gone through my folks stacks of pictures so that was in my head.
This lyric is just one of thousands by the incredibly prolific Larry W Jones aka The Kingwood Kowboy. I've put several of his lyrics to music. Just plain ol' honky tonk fun here.
This week's experiment was again trying to expand my EDM vocabulary. As far as the prompt goes, fortunately I went to college where I became quite familiar with this subject. Not that the song is at all autobiographical. ;)
