2017 was a great year for songwriting. I wrote more, by far, than any other year in my life. I can only hope that 2018 will be pretty good too. We'll see.
I participated in three online songwriting challenges. February Album Writing Month aka FAWM is an annual event where the goal is to write 14 songs in the 28 days of February. This was my third year and it was a blast. 50/90 is a related event that goes from July 4 to October 1. 50 songs in 90 days is the challenge. Though I have submitted a couple of songs in the past, this was my first year of real involvement. I wrote 25 songs. SongSkirmish.com is a weekly challenge to write a song.
All of these involve what we call "skirmishes" At a given time the moderator posts a prompt or topic. You have one hour to write a song and post a demo recording. The next hour is spent listening to and commention upon the other participants songs. Sometimes on weekends there is a "super skirmish". That's when there is a skirmish every two hours all day long. Most, but not all, of these songs are from a skirmish. If I like the song I'll dress up the demo later. That's what you have here. Not radio ready but, I think, listenable.
These challenges involve people from all over the world and are great fun. As I write this, FAWM will be starting in less than 2 weeks. I'm getting excited.
Here are some of my favorites from 2017's FAWM and SongSkirmish.com. I have a few from 50/90 but they're not yet in listenable shape. Maybe when FAWM is over.

If you just want to listen to all the songs you can use this playlist. It should yield a .m3u file that can be used by many players such as Windows Media Player, iTunes, Quicktime, VLC Media player and many others. Does anyone remember WinAmp?
